How to change a machine's sounds
- Read the sound ROM with an EEPROM programmer, such as an XGecu T48 or TL866II Plus. Save the file, and keep that original somewhere safe.
- Choose Load a BIN and upload the dump. Then pick the sample rate. Listen to each choice and use the one that sounds at the right pitch. This matters. The wrong rate plays every new sound too fast or too slow.
- Replace the sounds you want to change. Trim anything that is too long, and set the gain so the meter is not peaking.
- Download the finished BIN and program it onto a new ROM, or back onto the original chip if it can be erased. Fit it the same way around as the chip you removed, then try the machine.
Before you fit the chip
You use ClawSound.net at your own risk. A ROM fitted the wrong way, for example upside down, or forced into the socket, can damage the chip or the board. That is uncommon when the chip is seated correctly, but it can happen. To the extent the law allows, the operator of this site is not liable for damage to a machine or any other loss from using the tool or a file it creates.
